Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actor, model and entrepreneur. Her most famous role is being the character Emily Fields in Freeform's Pretty Little Liars. After having a great time with modeling and dance, she decided to try her hand at acting, and began acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell was offered a few commercials, and guest appearances on a variety of television shows. Her big break came when she was cast as Emily Fields. Fans and critics lauded her skills as an actor. Her career on screen began with Dreamland, Mother's Day, and The Possession of Hannah Grace. She gained wider recognition for her role in the series of psychological dramas You. She is the author of an adult book called Bliss along in collaboration with Michaela Blaney. Shay Mitchell, born April 10, 1987, in Ontario, Canada, was raised by her grandparents Mark Mitchell, and Precious Garca. Shay Mitchell is Filipina origin, while her father comes from Irish/Scottish heritage. Her cousin, Mitchell has the name of Lea Salonga who is a popular musical theater actor and actress. Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary School before moving onto West Vancouver Secondary. In her teens she was modeling for a variety of companies across the globe. She traveled to Barcelona, Bangkok, Hong Kong before returning home to Toronto in which she started studying acting.
